Illinois South Segment 2 - Prairie du Rocher to Grade Tower
Over a third of the way through Illinois South Segment 2, the American Discovery Trail passes through Chester – Home of Popeye! Or home of his creator, Elzie C. Segar. There is a park honoring him, complete with a 6-foot, 900-pound bronze statue of Popeye. The city is all in. There are numerous granite statues of the Popeye characters throughout Chester.
