The Sierra Closure Begins
Palisades Tahoe and Mount Rose have a fresh 5-inch blanket of snow along the American Discovery Trail, with forecasts predicting over two feet more.
The first significant snowfall of the season moved over Palisades Tahoe and Mount Rose yesterday and overnight, with five inches recorded in both SNOTEL locations along the American Discovery Trail.
And 2 or more feet could be on the way!
🏔️ Today's snow arrival comes one day after Briana hiked into California on her 40th Birthday and celebrated with some karaoke in Tahoe City. With the winter season drawing close, she decided to skip ahead from Eureka, NV, to the Sierra, hoping to get across before the range became impassable.
While there was no snow in Tahoe City this morning, hiking out and then up and over the Palisades could be a challenge.
